NHS Cuts 1949



The new NHS faced almost immediate series of cuts as the new Labour Government attempted to address the huge war debts Britain had incurred, as well as an economy based around war production, a huge need for housing and NHS services for a working class deprived of it. It also faced American insistence on spending even more on a military build up to fend off the so called "Soviet threat"
